The Mozambique LNG Foundation participated in the VI Session of the Cabo Delgado Provincial Development Observatory, which took place on May 22, under the motto, “Cabo Delgado, United for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development”. At the event, His Excellency the Governor of the Province officially announced its creation and publicly introduced one of the members of its Advisory Council, Mr. Nurmomade Abdulcarimo.

The session, which brought together various actors from the provincial government, cooperation partners, civil society organizations and representatives of the private sector, served as a space for dialogue on the challenges and opportunities of local development, in particular, socialization and collection of opinions on the Five-Year Plan of the Provincial Decentralized Governance Bodies for 2025/2029, consideration of the Plan and Budget of the Provincial Decentralized Governance Bodies,  for the year 2025, the Implementation Report of the Cabo Delgado Reconstruction Plan for 2020/2024 and the study of mechanisms to prevent and combat corruption.

This presentation highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to the sustainable development of the region in favor of human capital and economic diversification. The introduction of Mr. Nurmomade Abdulcarimo, a native of Mucojo district, Cabo Delgado, as a member of the Advisory Board, was received with interest by the participants, reinforcing the Foundation’s intention to work with recognized experienced and committed local voices.

Adbulcarimo, demonstrating deep knowledge of the local reality, the result of a lifetime lived in the province, expressed “pride and satisfaction for the invitation received” and made a commitment to “actively contribute to ensuring that the foundation’s support effectively reaches the communities that need it most”, reinforcing his personal commitment to the development of the region.

The Mozambique LNG Foundation was created under the Mozambique LNG project and had already formalized a Memorandum of Understanding with the Provincial Government of Cabo Delgado, with a view to implementing social initiatives with an impact over the next three years.

The Foundation’s participation in this session of the Observatory represents an important step in building strategic partnerships and aligning with the province’s development priorities.
