Solar Public Lighting

In partnership with Pemba Municipal Council and the District Governments of Palma and Mocímboa da Praia, this initiative is installing 1,000 solar-powered light posts across 12 communities in Palma, Mocímboa da Praia, and Pemba, directly benefiting 50,000 people.

The project addresses the critical lack of public lighting, which compromises safety and limits economic activity in conflict-affected areas. By increasing access to sustainable energy, it enhances public security and supports nighttime mobility and commerce.

Aligned with ENDE’s Pilar I & III, the Energy Transition Strategy (ETS), and the Resilience and Integrated Development Program (PREDIN), this effort is a key step toward inclusive recovery and long-term resilience in northern Mozambique.
