Mocímboa da Praia Fish Processing Unit – Cabo Delgado

The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, inaugurated Mocímboa da Praia Fish Processing Unit on January 29, 2026,  marking a significant milestone in Cabo Delgado’s sustainable development. The infrastructure, constructed with financing from the Mozambique LNG Project, features cutting-edge cold chain technology and certified quality standards, with installed capacity to process 90 tons of fish per month. The Mozambique LNG Foundation supports the unit’s operation.

Located in one of the province’s most active fishing areas, the unit directly benefits 2,800 fishers and over 12,000 people in coastal communities. The Processing Unit creates more than 70 local jobs and promotes more stable family incomes, improving fish conservation and commercialization conditions.

Through this initiative, the Mozambique LNG Foundation reinforces its commitment to inclusive and long-term economic development in Cabo Delgado, boosting the local economy and generating concrete income opportunities and greater resilience for coastal communities.
