Paquitequete Solar Water Project – Pemba, Mozambique

In March 2025, a solar-powered water system was inaugurated in Paquitequete, Pemba’s oldest and most densely populated neighborhood, home to thousands of displaced families. This transformative project now provides clean drinking water to 30,000 residents—an essential service in a community where water scarcity and poor sanitation have long threatened public health.

Construction of Multipurpose Community Health Posts with multifunction porches

To reduce child mortality and malnutrition, eight multifunctional community health posts are being built across seven of Cabo Delgado’s most underserved districts: Mocímboa da Praia, Palma, Mueda, Chiure, Meluco, Metuge, Montepuez, and Nangade.

Reconstruction and Construction of Schools and Educational Infrastructure

To keep children, especially girls, in safe, well-equipped learning environments, this initiative is building and upgrading schools in Cabo Delgado. A new school is being constructed in Mondlane, while the school in Maganja is being rehabilitated, expanded, and equipped as the first fully serviced basic school in the country, benefiting 2,530 students.

Construction and Equipping of Libraries

To promote inclusive education and keep children—especially girls—in safe, well-equipped schools, this initiative is delivering 20 equipped libraries, including 7 in secondary schools, and constructing 6 new libraries from the ground up.

Training of 200 Community Health Agents

In partnership with MISAU (Ministry of Health) and DPS/CD, this initiative is training and providing equipment to 200 multipurpose community health agents to deliver first-line healthcare across Cabo Delgado.

Internship program

Launched in 2024 by MozYouth, this two-year internship program aims to empower 500 young people, with a focus on Cabo Delgado, Niassa, and Nampula.

Solar Public Lighting

In partnership with Pemba Municipal Council and the District Governments of Palma and Mocímboa da Praia, this initiative is installing 500 solar-powered light posts across 12 communities in Palma, Mocímboa da Praia, and Pemba, directly benefiting 50,000 people.
