In partnership with Pemba Municipal Council and the District Governments of Palma and Mocímboa da Praia, this initiative is installing 500 solar-powered light posts, directly benefiting 50,000 people.
Solar Public Lighting

The project addresses the critical lack of public lighting, which compromises safety particularly in conflict-affected areas. Existing studies indicate that adequate lighting of public spaces can reduce crime by up to 15%, By increasing access through sustainable energy, the initiative supports safer nighttime mobility and commerce.
Aligned with ENDE’s Pilar I & III, the Energy Transition Strategy (ETS), and the Resilience and Integrated Development Program (PREDIN), this effort is a key step toward inclusive recovery and long-term resilience in northern Mozambique.
