Reconstruction and Construction of Schools and Educational Infrastructure

To keep children, especially girls, in safe, well-equipped learning environments, this initiative is building and upgrading schools in Cabo Delgado. A new school is being constructed in Mondlane, while the school in Maganja is being rehabilitated, expanded, and equipped as the first fully serviced basic school in the country, benefiting 2,530 students.

Implemented in partnership with MEC (Ministry of Education) and DPE/CD, the project is aligned with ENDE’s Pilar II & III, the Education Strategic Plan (2020–2029), the Resilience and Integrated Development Program (PREDIN), and the Cabo Delgado Reconstruction Plan (PRCD). It improves infrastructure, enhances learning conditions, and boosts enrollment, retention, and academic performance – strengthening human capital in vulnerable communities.

Support in Construction and Equipping of Maringanha Secondary School – Pemba City

In November 2025, the Mozambique LNG Foundation decided to support part of the construction and equipment of the Maringanha Secondary School in the city of Pemba – a project previously supported by USAID. The Foundation’s intervention – that  includes the completion of a block of 9 classrooms, the provision of  school furniture for the entire school, external work with fencing and lighting – is implemented in partnership with the Provincial Directorate of Education of Cabo Delgado.
When completed, the school will serve 4,500 students, providing adequate classrooms, better learning conditions and the necessary infrastructure to ensure the continuity of secondary education in one of Pemba’s neighbourhoods.
By strengthening the provincial education system, this initiative directly contributes to national priorities for expanding access to education.

Construction and Equipping of Libraries

To promote inclusive education and keep children—especially girls—in safe, well-equipped schools, this initiative is delivering 20 equipped libraries, including 7 in secondary schools, and constructing 6 new libraries from the ground up. These facilities span 11 districts: Pemba, Mecúfi, Metuge, Ancuabe, Chiure, Montepuez, Mueda, Macomia, Nangade, Mocímboa da Praia, and Palma, benefiting 76,519 children.

Implemented in partnership with MEC (Ministry of Education) and DPE/CD, the project is aligned with ENDE’s Pilar II & III, the Strategic Education Plan (2020–2029), and the National Program Vamos Ler. It enhances infrastructure, supports literacy, and provides access to complementary learning resources—boosting enrollment, retention, and academic achievement while strengthening human capital in vulnerable communities.
